Remove and Install the Power Module DC Bus Capacitor Assembly for Frames 8…15

Replace the frame 8…15 power module DC bus capacitor assembly with the appropriate kit catalog number:
  • SK-RM-ICP1-C540D505 (400/480V) - For power module catalog numbers 20-750-MIn-C302D302, 20-750-MIn-C367D361, 20-750-MIn-C460D430, and 20-750-MIn-C540D505
  • SK-RM-ICP1-C770D740 (400/480V) - For power module catalog numbers 20-750-MIn-C585D545, 20-750-MIn-C650D617, 20-750-MIn-C750D710, and 20-750-MIn-C770D740
  • SK-RM-ICP1-E395F370 (600/690V) - For power module catalog numbers 20-750-MIn-E242F215, 20-750-MIn-E295F265, 20-750-MIn-E355F330, and 20-750-MIn-E395F370
  • SK-RM-ICP1-E545F505 (600/690V) - For power module catalog numbers 20-750-MIn-E395F370, 20-750-MIn-E435F415, and 20-750-MIn-E545F505
Follow these steps to remove and install the frame 8…15 power module DC bus capacitor assembly.
  1. Remove power from the system.
  2. Open the corresponding power bay enclosure door.
  3. Remove the power module from the enclosure.
  4. Remove the circuit board tray from the power module.
  5. Remove the four M5 x 12 mm slotted-Torx screws that secure the protective plastic cover and bracket the to the power module chassis and remove the cover and bracket from the drive.

  6. Disconnect the +POS and –NEG wire stab connectors from the stakes on the DC bus bars.

  7. Remove the 12, M8 x 20 mm Torx screws that secure the flat bus bars to the IGBT modules.

  8. One person must support the DC bus capacitor assembly during the remainder of the removal steps.
  9. Remove the two M6 x 12 mm Torx screws that secure the DC bus capacitor assembly to the two stand-offs on the power module chassis.
  10. Remove the two M6 x 30 mm Torx screws that secure the top of the DC bus capacitor assembly to the power module chassis and remove the assembly and plastic insulator sheet.

  11. Install the plastic insulator sheet on the back of the DC bus capacitor assembly.
  12. Install the DC bus capacitor assembly with plastic insulator sheet in the reverse order of removal.
