Remove and Install the AC Precharge Control Circuit Board for
Frame 7

Replace the AC precharge control circuit board with kit catalog numbers 20-750-MACPC1-CD-F7M and 20-750-MACPC1-EF-F7M. Kit catalog number 20-750-MACPC1-EF-F7M is not used with frame 7L liquid cooled drives. Follow these steps to remove and replace the AC precharge control circuit board.
  1. Review the product advisories in Before You Begin.
  2. Remove power from the system.
  3. Open the enclosure door.
  4. Remove the protective guard. See Remove and Install the Protective Guard for Frame 7.
  5. TIP: The AC precharge control circuit board is located behind the control pod.
  6. Loosen the M5.5 x 13 mm Torx screw that secures the control pod assembly to the chassis.
  7. Loosen the two M5 captive screws that secure the bottom of the control pod assembly to the side panel and rotate the control pod assembly out from the enclosure.

  8. IMPORTANT: The minimum inside bend radius for fiber-optic cable is 50 mm (2 in.). Any bends with a shorter inside radius can permanently damage the fiber-optic cable. Signal attenuation increases as inside bend radius is decreased.

  9. Without bending the cable to a radius less than 50 mm (2 in.), remove the fiber-optic cable from the transceiver in the ACP port on the AC precharge control circuit board.
  10. Remove the transceiver from the ACP port and discard the transceiver.
  11. Disconnect these wire harness connectors from the connectors on the AC precharge circuit board:
    • P1 from J1
    • P2 from J2
    • P3 from J3
    • P4 from J4
    • P5 from J5
    • P6 from J6
    • P7 from J7
    • P11 from J11
    • P12 from J12, if present

  12. Record the position of the PE-A jumper on the circuit board. The PE-A jumper on the new AC precharge control circuit board must be installed in the same position.

    Description
    A
PE-A jumper in the "IN" position
    B
PE-A jumper in the "OUT" position
  13. Remove the 10, M4 x 16 mm slotted-Torx screws that secure the circuit board to the standoffs on the sheet metal panel, and remove the board.

  14. Install the AC precharge control circuit board in the reverse order of removal.
  15. Remove the protective cover from the ACP port on the new AC precharge circuit board.
example of how to remove the cover from the fiber-optic transceiver port with XT protection
  16. TIP: This illustration represents a fiber-optic transceiver port on an example circuit board only.
  17. Remove the new transceiver supplied with the kit from the packing materials.
  18. Remove the protective covers from the transceiver.
example of how to remove the covers from the ends of a fiber-optic transceiver with XT protection
  19. IMPORTANT: The end of the transceiver that connects to the inside of the fiber port contains dielectric grease. Do not touch the end of the transceiver.
  20. Without bending the cable to a radius less than 50 mm (2 in.), fully insert the fiber-optic cable into the transceiver.
example of how to insert a fiber-optic cable into a transceiver
  21. Insert the transceiver and fiber-optic cable into the port on the board, until you hear an audible ‘click.’
