Browse for an OPC address

Use the Tag Browser to browse for an OPC address. The Tag Browser lets you browse for tags anywhere in an application. This includes the tags defined for any OPC server you have added to the application.
The view of the OPC server provided by the browser (hierarchical or flat) depends on the OPC server you are looking at.
  • If the OPC server provides a flat view of its tags, they will all be listed in the right side of the browser.
  • If the OPC server provides a hierarchical view of its tags, you must open the individual folders within the hierarchy on the left side of the browser, and then select an item from the folder to display its tags on the right side of the browser.
To browse for an OPC address:
  1. In
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    , in the
    Tags
     editor, under
    Data Source
    , select
    Device
    .
  2. Beside the
    Address
     field, click the browse button (...).
  3. In the Tag Browser, to display only those tags whose names match a pattern, in the
    Filter
     box, type the pattern and press
    Enter
    .
  4. Select a tag and click
    OK
     to return the
    Tags
    editor.
