System features

FactoryTalk® Optix™
version 1.8.x has these features.

Core capabilities

  • Retentivity storage provides Backup and Restore methods to save retentive data to a backup file and restore the data.
  • Download and Upload methods transfer files between the runtime and client devices from the web.
  • The Report DataGrid includes a Word wrap option to wrap content onto multiple lines.
  • The Rockwell Automation EtherNet/IP C# API browses controller tags programmatically and imports tags with NetLogic at design time.
  • The Recipe API creates and changes recipe schemas with NetLogic at design time.

Expanded architecture

  • A three-node high-availability runtime cluster keeps the
    FactoryTalk Optix
application operational and accessible when a node or software component fails.
  • FactoryTalk Optix Applications
run as workstation clients in a dedicated interface installed from the browser.
  • ThinManager authentication passes through to
    FactoryTalk Optix
in a ThinManager container and removes multiple sign-in prompts.

Digital design experience

  • AI Assistant in
    FactoryTalk Optix Studio
uses AI to provide conversational application guidance and help content.
  • Tags import offline from a controller configured in a FactoryTalk Design Studio project before deployment to a Logix controller.

Data connectivity

  • The Rockwell Automation Device Driver enables direct communication with PowerFlex drives over EtherNet/IP.
  • Runtime event data streams to an MQTT broker so external systems, supervisory applications, or cloud tools consume event information.
  • The MQTT client supports complex data types to exchange complete data models through MQTT, which reduces engineering effort and improves scalability for industrial IoT and edge applications.
