Run applications in Docker containers with online entitlements

Pass an online entitlement serial number to a Docker container so Runtime validates the entitlement online.
TIP: For complete examples of configuration files, certificates, and other items required to validate entitlements, See https://github.com/FactoryTalk-Optix/Optix_Docker_FTOptixUpdateServer.
IMPORTANT: Without a valid entitlement, the
FactoryTalk Optix Application
stops running after 120 minutes.
Prerequisites
  1. To run applications in Docker containers with online entitlements
  2. Get the entitlement serial number for the Docker runtime.
The entitlement serial number starts the Call Home entitlement mechanism when you start the container.
  3. In the terminal, enter:
docker run --publish 49100:49100 --env ADMIN_PASSWORD=
    admin_password
    --env FTOPTIX_ENTITLEMENT_SERIAL_NUMBER=
    entitlement_serial_number
    [--name
    container_name
    ] [--publish
    external_port
    :
    internal_port
    ] [--restart unless-stopped] [-d] [-v
    local_folder
    :/root/FTOptixApplication/Projects/
    app_name
    ]
    image_name
For parameter descriptions, see Docker parameters.
After the entitlement lock succeeds, the container refreshes the entitlement lock every 30 minutes and unlocks the entitlement when Runtime stops normally.
The Docker container runs with online entitlement validation.
If the container loses the connection to the entitlement web API after the entitlement lock succeeds, a seven-day grace period starts.
Confirm that the status column shows
Up
after the container starts.
Example command:
docker run --publish 49100:49100 --publish 8080:8080 --env ADMIN_PASSWORD=AdminPassword --env FTOPTIX_ENTITLEMENT_SERIAL_NUMBER=entitlement_serial_number --name ftoptix-runtime --restart unless-stopped ftoptix-runtime
TIP: If Runtime stops and does not unlock the entitlement, rehost an entitlement manually.
