Configure Power BI to connect to a PostgreSQL Service Gateway

Perform the following steps to configure Power BI to connect to a PostgreSQL service gateway:
  1. Open the Power BI Desktop application.
  2. Click
    Get Data from other sources
    .

    dialog box is displayed.

  3. In the search box, search for PostgreSQL and select
    PostgreSQL database
    .
  4. Click
    Connect
    .
    Select PostgreSQL database
  5. In the
    PostgreSQL database
    dialog box, provide the following details:
    • Server:
      dm-virtualpostgres.cloud.rockwellautomation.com
      (Production URL).
    • Database: The name of the project in FactoryTalk DataMosaix. For example, check-46.
  6. Expand the
    Advanced options
    and clear the
    Include relationship columns
    checkbox.
  7. Click
    OK

  8. In the
    PostgreSQL database
    dialog box, provide the following details:
    • Username: Refer to the Client ID generated while registering the application.
    • Password: Refer to the Client Secret generated while registering the application.
  9. Click
    Connect
    .

    The
    Navigator
    dialog box displays the list of supported tables.
  10. Select the required table checkboxes and click
    Transform Data
    .

    Power Query Editor
    dialog box is displayed.
  11. Under the
    File
    menu, click
    Advanced Editor
    .

  12. In the
    Advanced Editor
    dialog box, provide the sample query and click
    Done
    .

    Based on the query, the data will be populated in the Excel format.
