Device Definition - Connection view parameters

The
Connection
view of the
Device Definition
dialog box includes these parameters.
TIP: The available parameters and default values depend on the definition of the device.
Parameter
Description
Connection
Indicates the connection type as
Standard
.
Input Assemble Instance
Specifies the input connection point for the standard input connection. The default value is 1.
Input Size
Specifies the size of the input assembly from 1 through 496 (Data Format = SINT) or from 1 through 248 (Data Format = INT).
Tip: The
Input Size
value includes 4 bytes for Fault data. For example, in the case of 1734-OE4C, setting
Input Size
to 8 accounts for the actual Input Size value of 4, plus the 4 bytes for Fault data.
Input Size Unit
Indicates the unit of the Input Size value. Possible values include:
  • 16-Bit
    (Data Format = INT)
  • 8-Bit
    (Data Format = SINT)
Output Assemble Instance
Specifies the output connection point for the standard output connection. The default value is 2.
Output Size
Specifies the size of the output assembly from 1 through 496 (Data Format = SINT) or from 1 through 248 (Data Format = INT).
Output Size
appears shaded and blank when
Connection
in the
Device Definition
dialog box is set to
Input Data
.
Tip: Taking 1734-OE4C for example, setting
Output Size
to 4 accounts for the actual Output Size value of 4.
Output Size Unit
Indicates the unit of the Output Size value. The value varies depending on the configuration of the
Connection
and
Data Format
parameters in the
Device Definition
dialog box:
  • When
    Connection
    is set to
    Input Data
    ,
    Output Size Unit
    appears shaded and blank.
  • When
    Connection
    is set to
    Data
    , the value is
    16-Bit
    (Data Format = INT) or
    8-Bit
    (Data Format = SINT).
Configuration Assemble Instance
Specifies the target of the connection. The default value is 199.
Configuration Size
Specifies the size of the configuration assembly from 4 through 400.
Tip: The
Configuration Size
value includes 4 bytes for Reserved data. For example, in the case of 1734-OE4C, setting
Configuration Size
to 76 accounts for the actual Configuration Size value of 72, plus the 4 bytes for Reserved data.
Configuration Size Unit
Indicates the unit of the Configuration Size value as
8-Bit
.
