General

Functions
The Spectrum Controls’ universal analog input module for the 1734 system provides ControlLogix controllers with 4-channels of analog input capability, and selectable input types including voltage, current, RTD, resistance and thermocouple.
Field Interface
  • 4 analog inputs (differential) with 16-21 bit resolution.
  • Configurable input type: Current 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA ; Voltage 0-5V, 1-5V, 0-10V, ±10V, RTD and Thermocouple with CJC
  • Configurable input ADC Filter: 50-480 Hz
  • Over-voltage protection: Voltage 24Vdc, Current 8Vdc
  • Each channel provides selectable wire-off input, over-range, and under-range detection.
  • Field connector and cables: Standard 8-pin removable terminal block; 1734-TOP or 1734-TOPS
Module Identity
The module Identity includes the following Device attributes may be found in the EDS file.
Data
The following module data types and tags are created by the AOP:
  • Input Tag (12 bytes)
    • Analog values; 32 bit IEEE floating point
    • Status and Diagnostics
  • Configuration Tag (12 bytes) - configurable through the AOP configuration tabs.
Other tags are created by the user for de-multiplexed input data, message buffers, etc. To minimize the effort creating these additional tags, and the potential for errors, import or copy the tags from the Sample Project file (see "Sample Projects” section below). Refer to the "Owner’s Guide” for a detailed description of the tags.
Note
: IO Tags are updated by the controller asynchronous to its ladder-logic program scan. When "block integrity” of this data is important, ladder execution can be synchronized to tag updates using application level "handshaking” or CPS (synchronous copy) ladder instructions. Refer to the "Owner’s Guide” for recommended methods.
Communication
1734 Backplane Communication
  • Connected producer/consumer multicast IO communication
    • RPI = 100ms default, 10-750ms range.
    • Support for "listen only” IO connections and also multiple owner-controllers.
    • Local chassis operation, or Remote chassis operation (over CIP network).
  • Unconnected messaging from controller (MSG instruction) or from a CIP network client.
NOTE
: Refer to detailed protocols and MSG examples described in the module’s "Owner’s Guide”, and examples in the module’s RSLogix5000 Sample Projects.
Bus Power
From the 1734 backplane: 20mA at 24VDC.
