Configure a client device

Configure a client device to enable
FactoryTalk Optix Studio
 to deploy the
FactoryTalk Optix Application
  to the client. The
FactoryTalk Optix Application
 can be deployed to a client device either over the network or by exporting the
FactoryTalk Optix Application
 to a folder or USB drive.
  1. Select
    Run
     to display the pull-down menu and then select
    Configure target device
    . The
    Deployment target device configuration
     window opens.
  2. Select
    Add
     to add a client device, then fill in the available fields.
    1. In
      Name,
       enter a name for the target device.
    2. In
      IP Address
      , enter the IP address of the client device.
    3. In
      Username
      , enter the user account used to connect to the client device:
      • Windows client device: the username must be a system user name.
        • DOMAIN\Username
          , for domain users
        • .Username
          , for local users on domain-joined devices
        • Username
          , for local users on devices that do not belong to a domain
      • Linux client device: the username must be that of the admin user.
  3. (optional). Only for Windows client devices -- in the
    Destination path
    , type the path on the target in which to transfer the application, if the transfer is not to be in the predefined path (in %localappdata%, on partition C).
    TIP: Specify a different path when the C partition on the client device is write-protected.
