Create-Configure Module 1734-AENT 1738-AENT

Use this tab to create/view module properties for 1734-AENT and 1738-AENT Ethernet adapters. To use these modules as adapters, the parent module must be an Ethernet scanner.
The first three parameters on this tab are read-only. These parameters provide:
  • Type and description of the module being created.
  • Vendor of the module being created.
  • Name of the parent module (typically a 1756-ENBT module or a 1756-ENET/B module).
To create an adapter
  1. In
    Name
, enter the name to use for this adapter.
Use an IEC 61131-3 compliant name. This field is required. If incomplete an error message appears when you exit this tab. An error message also appears if a duplicate name is detected, or an invalid character is entered. If the maximum allowable name length is exceeded, the software ignores extra character(s).
  2. In
    Description
, enter a description for the adapter (optional), up to 128 characters.
Use any printable character in this field. If the maximum length is exceeded, the software ignores any extra character(s).
  3. From the
    Comm Format
list, choose the communication formats: non-I/O modules used between the adapter and the controller.
    Choose from:
    • Rack Optimization (default)
    • Listen Only - Rack Optimization
    • None
When choosing a communication format, the configuration formats for the module are also defined.
      TIP:
Cannot change the communication format of a module once it is created. To change configuration, delete and recreate the module.
  4. Note the
    Slot
    number for the module.
For 1734-AENT and 1738-AENT modules, the Slot number field is set to 0, and this field is read-only.
  5. In
    Chassis Size
, enter the size of the chassis in which the adapter resides.
  6. Enter the revision of module firmware in use.
  7. From the
    Electronic Keying
list, choose the keying option for this module.
  8. In
    Address/Host Name
, choose whether to enter a specific IP Address or the corresponding Host Name of the module.
  9. View status information if you wish.
