Confirm the Project

You must review every safety application in your
FactoryTalk® Design Studio
project. You must verify the safety-related parameters and safety tag values so you can confirm that the correct safety components were deployed, tested, and retained in the safety application.
The following steps illustrate one method to confirm an application (see Figure 1).
  1. Go online with the safety controller.
  2. From the Execution explorer, right-click the application that you want to confirm and select Generate Safety Confirmation Report (A). The safety confirmation report displays a tab (B).
    • The safety confirmation report reads safety-related information directly from the controller by diverse means.
    • The safety confirmation report lists every safety-related component and their safety-related properties, including the safety controller, safety task, safety programs, safety routines, safety tags, user-defined data types, parameter connections, and safety I/O devices.
  3. Use the safety confirmation report to confirm the values of safety-related parameters and safety tag values.
TIP: Use Expand All and Collapse All to expand and collapse the report (C).
    • Confirm all properties of the safety controller, safety task, safety programs, safety routines, safety tag values, and parameter connections.
    • You do not need to confirm the compiled safety routines, as
      FactoryTalk® Design Studio
automatically confirms compiled safety routines at the end of every deployment. However, your functional testing must verify the behavior of the routine logic for your safety application.
    • You do not need to confirm safety I/O configuration from the safety controller, as
      FactoryTalk® Design Studio
automatically confirms safety I/O configuration at the end of every deployment. However, you must confirm safety I/O configuration by viewing the configuration in the properties of each safety I/O device.
  4. Verify that all safety controller and safety I/O configurations fulfill the requirements of your safety application specification.
  5. Select Download and save the report in your project documentation (D).
