Timer Instructions
After a switchover in a redundancy system, timer-based instructions, such as TON, TOF, and
RTO, maintain their original time base so that timing operations remain consistent and
uninterrupted. This behavior is critical for high availability because it prevents timing
resets or discrepancies that could disrupt process sequencing or cause data integrity issues.
However, it is important to verify that any logic dependent on timer completion is designed to
handle the continuity correctly, especially in applications where precise timing impacts
safety or synchronization.
