PAO Feedback configuration

Use the
Advanced Feedback
configuration tab of the PAO Properties dialog box to configure the feedback that the Process Analog Output (PAO) instruction provides and uses.
To configure device feedback for PAO instructions
  1. On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
    • On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
    • In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and select
      Configure <tag name>
      .
  2. Select the
    Advanced > Feedback configuration
    tab.
  3. Configure these settings.
    • Device has opened, closed, and position feedback signals and all determine the opened and closed status
. Select to inform the instruction that the connected device provides the opened, closed, and position feedback status signals, the signals are wired and can be processed in the instruction.
    • Use device opened, closed, and position feedback signals to determine the opened and closed status
. Select to inform the instruction that the connected device is using the opened, closed, and position feedback status signals.
    • Device has closed feedback
. Select to inform the instruction that the connected device provides the closed feedback status signal, the signal is wired and can be processed in the instruction.
    • Use device closed feedback for failure checking
. Select to inform the instruction that the connected device is using the closed feedback status signal for failure checking.
    • Device has opened feedback
. Select to inform the instruction that the connected device provides the opened feedback status signal, the signal is wired and can be processed in the instruction.
    • Use device opened feedback for failure checking
. Select to inform the instruction that the connected device is using the opened feedback status signal for failure checking.
    • Device has position feedback
. Select to inform the instruction that the connected device provides the position feedback signal, the signal is wired and can be processed in the instruction.
    • Use device position feedback for failure checking
. Select to inform the instruction that the connected device is using the position feedback signal for failure checking.
    • Fault when opened and closed feedbacks are both
. Use the radio buttons to define the failure state when both limit switches are used.
      • On
= Feedback from limit switches is invalid if both feedback inputs are set.
      • Off
= Feedback from limit switches is invalid if both feedback inputs are cleared.
    • Position above which device is assumed open if limit switches not used
. Enter the value (engineering units) to specify when the device is considered “opened” if feedback from limit switches is not used. When the position is greater than this value the instruction sets the opened status. When the position is smaller than this value the instruction sets the closed status.
  4. View the read-only parameters.
    • Device state
. When the Logix Designer application is online with the controller, the indicator displays the current device state, such as Off, Pulse on, or Out of service.
    • Device issues
. When the Logix Designer application is online with the controller, the indicator displays fault conditions, such as Feedback fault or I/O fault.
  5. Select
    Apply
    .
