Add a data logger

You can configure a data logger by using a dedicated interface.
TIP: You can also add a data logger manually. See Add a data logger manually.
  1. From the
    FactoryTalk Optix Studio
     toolbar, select
    Open dashboard page
    .
  2. In the central pane, select
    I want to configure a data logger
    .
  3. Select either:
    • New data logger
       to create a new data logger.
    • An existing data logger.
  4. Select a
    Sampling
     mode:
    • Periodic. Sample all monitored variables
    • Change in value. Sample all monitored variables with values that changed from the previous sampling.
    • None. Sample variables by invoking the Log method.
  5. Select a
    Sampling
     period:
    • For
      Periodic
       and
      Change in value
       sampling properties, set the sampling period using the format: 0000:00:00.000.
  6. Select
    Next
    .
  7. In
    Available databases
    , select an existing database and edit the properties or
    New database
     and edit
    Name
     and
    Type
     as needed.
  8. Select
    Next
    . For new database, edit the properties and select
    Next
    .
  9. For a new database, edit
    Name
     and
    Properties
    as needed and select
    Next
    .
  10. To duplicate a database, right-click a database and select
    Duplicate
    .
  11. Edit the properties as needed and select
    Next
    .
  12. Select the variables that you want to log.
