Add a client device

Configure a target client device to allow
FactoryTalk Optix Studio
 to deploy
FactoryTalk Optix Applications
 to client devices over the network.
  1. From the main toolbar, next to
    Run
    Run
    , select the target client device drop-down.
  2. (optional) In
    Client device settings
    , to display only the active remote client devices, toggle Active remote devices.
    TIP: Refresh remote client devices by selecting Refresh.
  3. Select a folder and select
    Add
    Add
    .
  4. (optional) In
    Name
    , edit the name of the target device.
  5. In
    IP Address
    , enter the IP address of the target device.
  6. In
    Username
    , enter the name of the user to log on the target device.
    IMPORTANT: A password must be configured for the user on the target device.
    Windows®
     username
    A system username:
    • DOMAIN\
      username
      , for domain users.
    • .username
      , for local users on domain-joined devices.
    • username
      , for local users on devices that do not belong to a domain.
    Linux username
    An administrator username.
  7. (optional, only for
    Windows
     client devices) Select
    Encrypt project on device
     to encrypt the deployed project on the target device.
    For more information, see Project encryption.
  8. (optional) In
    Arguments
    , enter additional arguments to be passed when you run the application.
    TIP: Passing additional arguments is useful for debugging purposes.
  9. (optional, only for
    Windows
     client devices) In
    Destination Path
    , enter the path on the target device to deploy the application.
    TIP: The default deployment destination path is
    %localappdata%
    . Defining a custom path is useful when the
    C:\
     partition of the client device is write-protected.
  10. Click
    Select
