Machine Builder (OEM) Solutions
Sustainable Production
Many people use the terms sustainability and going green synonymously, but Rockwell Automation believes that sustainable production encompasses manufacturing practices that transform materials with significantly lower emission of greenhouse gases (GHG), minimizes use of nonrenewable or toxic materials, reduce waste, and increase workplace and product safety while optimizing yield and supply-chain integrity.
Manufacturers have always depended on machine builders and equipment suppliers to help them reduce costs and improve profitability. Today, more and more companies have social responsibility on their minds. And they are asking machine builders to help them achieve sustainability goals such as reducing their carbon footprint, cutting the costs of running machines, and increasing productivity and safety.
Cradle-to Cradle Machine Design
You can repeatedly reconfigure and re-commission machinery for new end user operations by practicing “cradle-to-cradle” design. A more flexible, modular machine can potentially last years longer than a machine built using traditional design methods. By using the multi-disciplined Logix control platform, you can design more flexible machinery, thus streamlining machine programming along with operations for sequential, motion, safety and drive control.
Mechatronics
Mechatronics is the combination of mechanical and electrical engineering. The fundamental attraction behind this design approach is that it addresses the key desires of machine builders, including the need for greater innovation, more optimized performance, faster time to market and reduced business risk. A mechatronics design approach helps build more flexible and therefore more sustainable machinery. With Motion Analyzer software, you can identify potential improvements early in the machine design stage, thereby extending the lifetime of the machine. In addition, testing a prototype for reliability would likely lead to less waste.
Modular Design Methodology
Using design techniques, such as modular programming standards, you can more easily develop reusable code modules. With predefined modules that meet requirements for various machine configurations, your customers can easily change production functionality on a machine without having to rewrite code.
Improved Operating Efficiency
Reduce downtime by using vibration-monitoring technology, integrating safety and implementing software to generate metrics on machine performance to help increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Remote Monitoring
Remote access modems allow you to quickly connect to your machine’s control system from any standard phone line or via the Internet depending on your customer’s infrastructure, improving your ability to respond to critical situations without actually being on site. From home, your office or another facility, you can easily monitor system status, perform diagnostics, and make authorized program changes.
