Machine Builder (OEM) Solutions
Power Programming
Power Programming is a methodology for implementing modular programming concepts within the RSLogix5000 and FactoryTalk View programming environments. The Power behind Power Programming lies within the principles laid out in ISA-88 and the Foundations of Modular Programming [PDF].
Machine builders and end users alike require quicker delivery and faster startup while also reducing cost. In any machine design project, the time and effort to program complete machine control can be very time-consuming and expensive.
Version 4 of Power Programming fully embraces ISA-88 modularity concepts and also leverages the workings of OMAC. The OMAC PackML guidelines, which are now published in ISA-TR88.00.02, provides a broadly recognized machine state model and standardized data model (PackTags). These models provide a common set of terminologies and structures that are significantly reducing the customization, time, and cost associated with integration of machines with manufacturer’s information systems.
With Rockwell Automation Power Programming you can:
- Increase your design efficiency
- Improve machine reliability
- Simplify machine maintenance
- Create flexible and scalable systems designs
- Improve time and cost associated with vertical startups
- Provide your customers with improved access to production and diagnostic information
Programming machines in a structured way, based on standardized programming methods and best practices, helps save time and money during the design, implementation and maintenance of machines. OEMs can use and reuse code, directly resulting in reduced design time (and costs) for machine projects.
Power Programming in Discrete Applications
Power Programming can be applied in many discrete application segments. Power Programming has been used successfully in Packaging, Converting, Print, Web Handling, Manufacturing Assembly, Process, and other market segments. We will continue to develop extensions that allow you to leverage the benefits of this modular programming template in many more applications.
