Safety Accelerator Toolkit for GuardLogix Systems
This toolkit provides easy to use system design, programming, and diagnostic tools to assist you in the rapid development and deployment of your safety systems using Rockwell Automation’s GuardLogix Controller, Guard I/O, and Safety Devices. The toolkit includes a risk assessment and system design guide, hardware selection guide, CAD drawings, safety logic routines, and operator status and diagnostic faceplates.
Order the complete CD, (SAFETY-CL002), with all the items listed below, from your local distributor or use the following links to download many of the individual pieces.
- Quick Start [PDF] — The Quick Start provides a step-by-step guide through using the design, programming, and diagnostic tools provided.
- Guard I/O Module and Safety Device CAD Drawings — The following drawings provide both power and control wiring for Guard I/O modules and safety input and output devices for each safety category, providing significant time savings on research, layout, and wiring diagram creation. Use AutoCAD Electrical to take advantage of the advanced features and components provided in the DWG project drawings. DXF and PDF versions are also available.
- GuardLogix Project Files — Streamline your safety logic and I/O configuration creation by using the Guard I/O Module Configuration and Safety Device Routine examples for the GuardLogix controller. The Safety Device Routines include safety input, output, and interlock logic examples for CAT2, CAT3, and CAT4 safety requirements.
- FactoryTalk View ME Files — Use the preconfigured FactoryTalk View faceplates for creating your safety system status and diagnostic operator interface. The faceplates include safety demand and fault indication for all of your safety devices and modules along with detailed fault cause and recommended action information. These faceplates will help increase your safety system performance and reduce downtime.
- GuardLogix Tools — For many safety applications, when reaction time is critical, the performance of the safety system needs to be estimated early in the design of the system. This can become complex when the safety system utilizes safety networks and distributed safety devices. The GuardLogix Safety Calculator and the GuardLogix Estimator tools will help you estimate device and network performance and design accordingly.
- Safety Application Examples — The toolkit also includes a number of safety application examples to assist you in applying a variety of Rockwell Automation safety controllers to specific application needs.

Faceplate/Add-On Instruction Sets
Adding a device, like a PowerFlex drive, into a Logix controller project has always provided ready-to-use tags. Now Faceplate/AOI sets make use of these tags with code for your controller and graphics for your HMI. Simply download a Faceplate/AOI set from the library, then install and configure it for your application using the straightforward instructions included in the download. By implementing these pre-programmed, pre-tested Faceplate/AOI sets for devices such as drives, networks, and I/O modules, the user can configure, commission and operate devices without the need to write a single line of code. The faceplates also include many diagnostic functions to assist the maintenance and troubleshooting of your system. Faceplate/AOI sets bring the power of the Integrated Architecture to your system quickly and easily.
Download the Faceplate/AOI sets for FactoryTalk View ME and SE at the Sample Code Library Web site by selecting "AOI" or "Faceplates" under Technologies & Functionalities or click here, Faceplates/AOI Sets.
Here are just some of the Faceplate/AOI sets available:
- PowerFlex Drives
- E3 Overloads
- Analog and Digital I/O Modules
- Kinetix Servo Drives

The Equipment Status faceplate serves as a dashboard to monitor multiple devices and acts as a launch pad to additional device details. (Click to enlarge view.)Integrated Architecture Bookshelf
