ControlLogix Certificate Program

This Certificate Program offers professional education to help you develop and apply your ControlLogix skills and knowledge to your plant systems to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity. This program is intended for maintenance or programming professionals who want to stay ahead of the competition, accelerate their skills and knowledge using the latest ControlLogix technology, and earn professional recognition and credits through a formal education program.

Program Requirements

Registration is not required for this program. Participation is self-guided using the curriculum maps as your guide. You will complete a series of three required ControlLogix courses related to your maintenance or programming job responsibilities, plus one course elective. For course details, refer to the curriculum tracks below. After completing the courses, you will complete an online assessment to confirm your ControlLogix knowledge. To earn the ControlLogix certificate, the program requirements must be completed within 12 months.

How to Complete the Program
1. Contact your Allen-Bradley distributor or Rockwell Automation sales office to enroll in courses.
2. Track and complete your course requirements and final assessment within a 12-month time frame.
3. Contact your Allen-Bradley distributor or local Rockwell Automation sales office to enroll in the final assessment (fee required).
4. Receive email notification with information and directions to access and complete the assessment.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need to sign up to participate in this program?
  No. You are not required to sign up for this program in advance. However, you must contact your local Rockwell Automation sales office or Allen-Bradley distributor to enroll in courses as you would in any other circumstance. To receive a certificate, you must complete your course requirements within the 12-month time frame. Also, you will be required to enroll in the final assessment by contacting the local sales office or distributor when you are prepared to take the assessment.
2. Is there a time requirement for completing the program?
  Yes. You must complete the Certificate Program requirements (both the courses and assessment) within a 12-month time frame.
3. Can we accept courses that you have already taken?
  Yes. For students who may have already completed courses required for the certificate, we will accept ControlLogix courses taught with version 16 or later. Anything prior to version 16 will not be accepted.
4. How long is the certificate valid?
  The Certificate of Achievement awarded to students will not specify an expiration date. For validity purposes, it will specify the version of ControlLogix for which students earned a certificate.
5. Can training vouchers be redeemed to purchase the required classes?
  Yes. Training vouchers can be redeemed for purchasing the ControlLogix classes specified in this program.
6. Can you acquire both the maintainer and programmer certificates?
  Yes. You may complete the course requirements and online assessments to acquire both the ControlLogix Maintainer and Programmer certificates. In order to meet the course elective requirements, you are required to complete one elective course that is unique for each certificate program. In other words, you cannot use one elective course, such as CIA101, for both the maintainer and programmer certificate programs.
7. Can the Training + Starter Workstation apply to the required courses in this program?
  Yes. You have the option to purchase a CompactLogix starter workstation with any of the following ControlLogix courses:
  - CCP146W (or CCP146E) RSLogix 5000 Level 1: ControlLogix System Fundamentals
  - CCP299 W (or CCP299E) RSLogix 5000 Level 1: ControlLogix Fundamentals and Troubleshooting
  - CCCL21W (or CCCL21E) RSLogix 5000 Level 2: Basic Ladder Logic Interpretation
  - CCP153W (or CCP153E) RSLogix 5000 Level 3: ControlLogix Maintenance and Troubleshooting
  - CCP151W (or CCP151E) RSLogix 5000 Level 2: Basic Ladder Logic Programming
8. What is the online assessment and is there a fee?
  Once you have completed the required course work for the Certificate Program, you must complete an online assessment. The assessment fee is $120. The purpose of the assessment is to measure and validate your knowledge of ControlLogix as a result of the program. You will have 1 ½ hours to complete 65 multiple choice questions. You are permitted to use job aids and any other reference materials to complete the assessment, however, after 1 ½ hours, the assessment will time out and your answers will be recorded and scored. A passing score of 80% entitles you to the rewards and benefits of the Certificate Program.
9. Can you re-take the online assessment?
  Yes. You can re-take the assessment as many times as you want; however, the $120 fee will be charged each time you take an assessment.
10. When and how do you receive your certificate and other benefits?
  You will receive your Certificate of Achievement and custom Rockwell Automation shirt within 10-15 business days after successfully passing the ControlLogix online assessment.
11. Can you substitute or test-out of any courses?
  No. There is no test-out option for courses. The courses outlined in this program are mandatory and substitutions (except where noted with CCP146) are not possible due to the prerequisite requirements of courses included in the Certificate Program curriculum.
12. How do you enroll for the online assessment?
  Enrollment for the assessment is the same as an enrollment for a course. You must contact your local Allen-Bradley distributor or Rockwell Automation sales office to enroll in the assessment. Once your enrollment is finalized, you will be notified via email with your user name, password, and website address where they can access the online assessment.
