Remote Access Dial-In Paging Modem

Applications

The diagrams below illustrate PLC, SLC and MicroLogix controllers with a modem connected to the serial port. The modem connected to the controllers serial port is the Remote Access Paging Modem. This modem provides the alpha-numeric paging functionality by monitoring data table addresses of binary and integer files, defined by the end user. When an alarm condition exists, the Remote Access Paging Modem contacts the alpha-numeric pager service or cellular service provider (s) of your choice (e.g. Skytel, Ameritech, AT&T). The alpha-numeric pager service provider then forwards your text message (s) to your pager (s).

Also illustrated below is a Rockwell Software programming PC (e.g. RSLogix software), with a modem connected to the PC's serial communications port. The modem connected to the PC's serial port can initiate dial-up communications to the A-B controller. This modem is referred to as a Remote Access Dial-in Modem.

Software

The Remote Access Paging Modem Configuration software is supported on Windows™ 95/98, Windows™ ME, Windows™ NT 4.0 and Windows™ 2000. This software provides an easy method to add, modify, and delete messages/variables, pager numbers and companies.
