RSView32
RSView®32 WebServer
RSView32 WebServer expands your view into RSView32 and provides a quick look into graphic displays, tags, and alarms through any standard Internet browser. RSView32 WebServer is a true "thin client" that requires absolutely no installation or configuration on clients.
From a client you can:
- Connect to RSView32 WebServer over the Internet using a URL address
- View snapshots of selected tag or alarm data
- Update project data by clicking the Refresh button
- If you have a valid RSView32 user account, you can connect to an RSView32 project over the Internet using any browser that supports HTML 3.2
With RSView32 WebServer, clients can request snapshot views of the following types of project information:
- Graphic displays. RSView32 WebServer sends a snapshot view of a requested graphic display as a JPEG file. The content in the file is inactive; objects are not animated or interactive
- Tags. RSView32 WebServer sends a snapshot of selected tag fields in an HTML table
- Alarms. RSView32 WebServer sends a snapshot of selected alarm fields in an HTML table
Connect clients to RSView32 WebServer
RSView32 WebServer requires absolutely no installation or configuration on clients. In addition, RSView32 has no built-in restrictions on the number of clients that can connect simultaneously.
- The client browser initiates all communication and requests for data between the client and RSView32 WebServer. To view updated project data, users click the browser's Refresh button — RSView32 WebServer does not automatically send data to clients
- The number of concurrent clients connected to RSView32 WebServer is limited only by the capacity of the Windows system where RSView32 is installed, not by RSView32 or RSView32 WebServer. As a result, potentially hundreds of clients could connect to the same RSView32 project at the same time
Ensure security with RSView32 WebServer
RSView32 WebServer protects your projects from unauthorized access:
- When attempting to connect, if the client does not log in with a valid RSView32 user name and password, RSView32 WebServer does not transmit data back to the client and the HTTP session times out after a few minutes
- Once connected to RSView32 WebServer, the RSView32 session login governs the client's access to requested graphic displays, tags, and alarms. If a client's RSView32 security levels prohibit access to certain information, WebServer does not send that information
- To prevent any client connections to RSView32 WebServer, simply issue a WebServerOff command
If you need an interactive client with dynamic content rather than snapshot views, consider the full-featured RSView32 Active Display System.
