RSView32 Active Display System
RSView32 Active Display System is a client/server application that extends the view of your data by allowing remote operators to open, run, and interact with RSView32 graphic displays from virtually any computer on a network. This extends the reach of your process control system from the plant floor to the office and beyond. RSView32 Active Display System takes advantage of Microsoft® Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) and ActiveX® technologies, allowing remote components to appear local and by providing convenient Internet access.
With RSView32 Active Display System you can:
- View and interact with real-time, animated graphics
- Manage and control alarms, trends, and set-points
- Manage and acknowledge global alarms
- Centrally manage configuration files, graphic display files, databases, and RSView32 security
- Centrally administer the RSView32 security system
- Automatically deploy client software through your network from the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser on a client
- Automatically establish client sessions with an alternate server if the primary server fails
- Use RSView32 Active Display with Microsoft® Windows® Terminal Services to reduce total cost of ownership. Combine RSView32 Active Display and Terminal Services to use thin clients, such as the Microsoft® Windows® CE-based RAC6182 and MobilView that remotely access RSView32 information
Other benefits include:
- Interact with RSView32 projects from remote locations. From an RSView32 Active Display Station client computer, you can view and interact with real-time animated graphic displays, view and manage alarms, view and control historical or real-time trends, and change set points
- Automatically deploy client software. Use Microsoft Internet Explorer to install or update the Active Display System client software on client workstations over a network
- Automatically deploy ActiveX objects. In order to appear in graphic displays, ActiveX objects must be installed on the Active Display Station client computer. Using CAB files, the server can deploy ActiveX components to client automatically when they need them — without manual intervention
- Design a client/server system that fits your unique requirements. The RSView32 Active Display System architecture supports multiple configurations, with interconnected servers and clients. RSView32 currently supports up to 20 simultaneous, licensed client connections
- Manage client connections with the Display Server Monitor. RSView32 Active Display System includes a Display Server Monitor that allows users at the Active Display Server to manage client connections. From the server, you can both monitor and selectively disconnect clients
- Switch to an alternate server. The client configuration of the Active Display Station allows you to specify an alternate server. If client communication with the primary server fails, the client window closes and a new client session is established with the alternate server without requiring the user to log in again. This is not redundant server functionality; however, it does provide a level of protection in case the primary server fails
- Security features. The RSView32 Active Display System uses security codes and user accounts set up in RSView32 or in Windows OS to ensure that unauthorized users cannot gain access to the Active Display Server
- Extend remote access with RSView32 WebServer. RSView32 WebServer offers a low-cost way to extend view-only remote access to any number of clients who need quick snapshots of graphic displays, tag data, and alarm data
