FactoryTalk Transaction Manager
- FactoryTalk Transaction Manager 8.00.00 (CPR 7)
This release of FactoryTalk Transaction Manager contains the following new features:
FactoryTalk Transaction Manager supports FactoryTalk Security. This first release of FactoryTalk Security is intended to improve the security of your automation system by limiting access to those with a legitimate need. FactoryTalk Security allows a system administrator to control who has access to which resources in the automation system. For more information, see the following topics in the FactoryTalk Transaction Manager online help: Considerations when using FactoryTalk Transaction Manager with FactoryTalk Security and Specify FactoryTalk Security permissions that allow you to perform FactoryTalk Transaction Manager tasks.
Additionally, this version of FactoryTalk Transaction Manager also allows you to write FactoryTalk Transaction Manager-specific security privileges that you used in a previous release of FactoryTalk Transaction Manager to a file that can be used for establishing FactoryTalk Security permissions in FactoryTalk Transaction Manager 8.00.00 (CPR 7). - FactoryTalk Transaction Manager now authenticates and validates user names against the Active Directory naming convention (for example, user@domain). This is in addition to FactoryTalk Transaction Manager's long-standing support of the Windows NT-style naming convention (For example, domain\user).
- FactoryTalk Transaction Manager has improved the ability to copy and paste tags in the FactoryTalk data point grid, allowing you to press Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-V to paste. You can also copy and paste tags to/from Microsoft Excel. - FactoryTalk Transaction Manager supports the Windows XP (Service pack 2) operating system for use with non-distributed configuratiions. FactoryTalk Transaction Manager supports the Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition (Service Pack 1) operating system.
- FactoryTalk Transaction Manager improved the amount of time to complete a transaction on a multi processor computer to match that of a single processor computer. The performance of the Transaction Import/Export utility was also improved.
- FactoryTalk Transaction Manager 7.50.00 (CPR 6)
This release of FactoryTalk Transaction Manager contains the following new features:
- FactoryTalk Transaction Manager supports a Trial mode license. This license type will allow you to run 50 tags for a period of seven days.
Tips: Trial mode is not compatible with configurations containing transactions that were created by FactoryTalk Historian or FactoryTalk Metrics.
An activation is required to run Trial mode. This activation will be made available with RSView32 v7.10.00 (CPR 6) and FactoryTalk View SE v3.20.00 (CPR 6).
- FactoryTalk Transaction Manager supports Windows 2003 Standard Server. Please keep the following deviations in mind:
- The software does not support case insensitivity in the Active Directory Server (for example, C:\Fish will be treated the same as C:\fish).
- In the Active Directory Server, you must use standard Windows NT-style domain names and user names (for example, domain\username).
- Additionally, if you are in a native mode active directory domain, you will not be able to configure FactoryTalk Transaction Manager privileges (either via Configuration > Privileges or the Privileges tab that is displayed when selecting Configuration > Properties).
- COM+ network access is disabled by default on Windows 2003 Standard Server platforms. On these platforms, COM+ can be used only locally by default. Use the following procedure to enable network COM+ access when you are using COM+ connectors in FactoryTalk Transaction Manager:
- Click Start > Settings > Control Panel, and then select Add or Remove Programs.
- Click the Add/Remove Windows Components icon.
- Select Application Server, and then click Details.
- Check the box next to Enable network COM+ access, and then click OK.
- Click Next to complete the Windows Components wizard.
- Click Finish to close the wizard.
- FactoryTalk Transaction Manager supports Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 for demonstrations of minimal non-distributed configurations only.
Tip: FactoryTalk Transaction Manager should not be used on a computer running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 in a production environment. - The error messages that are displayed in the FactoryTalk Transaction Manager user interface were improved.
In addition, the associated troubleshooting topics in the help system were improved to positively impact the user experience. - The About box in FactoryTalk Transaction Manager now shows the activation information for the selected configuration server and the CPR number (CPR 6).

- The ability to create new and modify existing data points and transactions in a running configuration.
- The FactoryTalk Transaction Manager Online Edits tutorial describes concepts and terms relating to the ability to modify a FactoryTalk Transaction Manager configuration while it is running. The tutorial describes various scenarios to illustrate this new functionality. You can access this information from Start > Programs > Rockwell Software > FactoryTalk Transaction Manager > FactoryTalk Transaction Manager Tutorial.

This release of FactoryTalk Transaction Manager contains the following new features:
- You can now use an Oracle 9i database with FactoryTalk Transaction Manager.
- FactoryTalk Transaction Manager now supports large ControlLogix tag names.
- The Import/Export Transaction wizard allows transactions to be edited in Microsoft Excel, or used as a template to add multiple transactions quickly.
- The new data point grid for the FactoryTalk LiveData control connector is more intuitive and easier to use.
- FactoryTalk Transaction Manager now has the ability to retain multiple sets of log files. You will no longer lose log files after restarting a configuration.
- FactoryTalk Transaction Manager can now log all changes made to configurations. The information is tracked each time you alter a configuration, enable or disable transactions, and add or delete data points.
- FactoryTalk Transaction Manager now has the ability to remotely browse objects which previously caused issues while remotely editing configurations. For example, you can browse Oracle Service Names and ODBC DSN Names as well as remote files.
