Compliance with European Union Directives

Rockwell Automation products covered by European Union directives are intended for sale and use within the European market and conform with the essential requirements of these directives.

• Products specifically required to do so bear the CE marking per the relevant European Union Directives and CE marking regulations.
• Declarations of Conformity for Rockwell Automation products are available as required.
• The necessary technical documentation is on file within Rockwell Automation.

Certification for Marine and Off-shore Applications

Many Rockwell Automation products, such as selected PLC-5 programmable controllers, 1771 I/O, and Dataliner Message Displays, have been certified for use in marine and offshore applications around the world by various marine classification societies.

UL Certification

Generally, we pursue applicable UL certification for our products. There are four relevant types of certification granted by Underwriters Laboratories (UL):

	UL Listed or UL Listed to Canadian safety standards.
	UL Recognized or Recognized to Canadian safety requirements under the Component Recognition Program of Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.

CSA

Generally, we pursue applicable CSA certification for our products. CSA certifies products for general use as well as for use in hazardous locations. Products might be certified in one of these two ways.

	CSA Class 1, Division 2 Hazardous Location Certification: This product is listed by the Canadian Standards Association as certified for use in Class 1, Division 2, Group A, B, C, D, or non-hazardous locations only.
	CSA Certification: The product is certified by the Canadian Standards Association as certified for non-hazardous locations.

ISO 9000 Registration

Rockwell Automation has registered business groups and facilities, encompassing 20 separate sites and more than 25 major product families, to ISO 9001 standards. Rockwell Automation's primary manufacturing facilities are registered to ISO 9001. This registration means that our quality system governing the design, development, manufacture, delivery, and internal customer service processes for our products has been verified by third-party audits.

Functional Safety

Safety Integrity Level (SIL) certification is related to the evaluation of the functional safety of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic safety-related/safety instrumented systems and subsystems. Several compliance documents and applications can be involved. The certification is usually obtained through a third party.
