Legacy AC and DC Drives
FlexPak 3000 DeviceNet Connectivity
Now both the FlexPak 3000 and GV3000 communicate over the First Open Network
The DeviceNet communication board enables high speed communications between the GV3000 AC Drive and FlexPak 3000 DC Drive and this open network. This internally mounted option board requires no additional cabinet space and gives the network access to all configuration, control, and monitoring registers.

Function
DeviceNet is a serial network protocol designed to allow a variety of devices to communicate within an open environment. Based on proven Controller Area Network (CAN) technology, the application software and hardware are non-proprietary, allowing a variety of factory automation devices network access. A host logic controller can be used as the factory control system with network nodes or drops used for all I/O, including the GV3000 AC and FlexPak 3000 DC drives. All devices are addressed and a single 5 wire cable provides the physical connection saving vast amounts of I/O wiring. Because all the devices are communicating over the same network, interlocking and sequencing become simple software based systems.
Speed
Often communication speed is the deciding variable for effective system design. Here DeviceNet excels over other dedicated control networks. Communication rates of 125K, 250K, and 500K baud are available to the design engineer. Control/Reference data registers are updated every 5 milliseconds* for the GV3000 and 20 milliseconds for the FlexPak 3000, placing the designer in complete control of the drive.
Two configurations are available for maximizing network performance. In the Basic single drop configuration the drives control word, speed/torque/trim reference, status word, and output monitor words are scanned by the network. In the Full configuration all drive parameter and control variables are accessed by DeviceNet. If update time and control loop programming are critical to your application, DeviceNet is an ideal proven protocol.

GV3000 Setup
Simple Parameter changes place the GV3000 on DeviceNet:
Parameter Description DeviceNet Setting P.000 Operation Control Source OP P.060 Drop Number 1-55 P.061 Network Connection Type 0 P.063 Baud Rate 125-500K Baud With the above parameters set properly, the GV3000 will attempt to "log on" to the DeviceNet network at power up. If successful, the DeviceNet Master will have immediate access to the drive's register data.
