Tire & Rubber
Today's highly competitive tire manufacturing businesses across the globe face new and unprecedented challenges. Competition is fierce and concentrated, with 11 manufacturers accounting for 80% of the world's tire sales. Demand for wheel sizes between 16 and 20 inches, indigenous growth in India, China, and Eastern Europe, and new technology, such as run-flat and 'green' tires, have resulted in significant capital investment in all regions. Globalization of standards, the high cost of fuel, the emergence of sustainability, and increased federal regulation are altering this sector's economics, and providing impetus for new manufacturing strategies with an expanded role for suppliers, equipment manufacturers, and information-enabled systems to drive increased production with improved safety. This year's Tire Forum will present real-world examples and concepts that are being used by manufacturers and equipment suppliers to meet today’s challenges in the tire industry.
