- How Petrobras Has Chosen Rockwell Automation to Help Meet Its Pre-Salt Challenges
Alexandre R. Maia | Manager - Production Installation Engineering, PETROBRAS
Extracting oil and gas reserves from thousands of feet of salt and rock deposits deep below the Atlantic Ocean is challenging and expensive. This presentation looks at how Petrobras, Brazil's largest company, assessed the challenges it faced trying to access this natural resource deposit, and tried to find a partner capable of handling a project of this magnitude at Caraguatatuba, which is expanding in scope. Requirements include: Application experience, the ability to integrate multiple sub-systems on the project and in the future meet Petrobras' needs to have its suppliers use a greater percentage of locally-produced products.
- Global Expansion and Key Project Successes Including Tank Farm Automation at Chad Refinery
Wang XingYi | Deputy Chief Engineer of CNODC and President of SORESCO
This presentation looks at how CNPC, China National Petroleum Company, is expanding globally to support the international energy market. As part of this presentation you will learn about their partnering strategy including an overview of SORESCO, the joint venture between CNPC and Costa Rica, as well as information on key projects including the successful deployment of the Chad refinery's tank farm automation system.
- A Case Study On Compressor Unit and Station Control
Panel Replacement
Jennifer Schaller | Lead Electrical Engineer, National Fuel
Mark Adelmann | Vice President, Automation & Electrical Design, EN EngineeringNational Fuel and EN Engineering will give a joint presentation describing recent completed automation upgrade projects at the National Fuel Roystone and Independence compressor stations. The purpose of these projects was the replacement of compressor unit control panels and station control panels at each site, with the following objectives:
- Improve reliability
- Enhance data reporting capabilities
- Provide improved compressor control performance and monitoring
- Provide a higher degree of automation at these facilities.
This was a turnkey project which included control system design, panel fabrication, PLC and HMI programming, installation and commissioning.
- Evolution of Automation to Meet Industry Application Needs
José Luis Pérez Navarro | Coordinator of Instrumentation and Control at the Mexican Petroleum Institute
Over time, as markets, industries and global dynamics shift and evolve, enterprises need to change, modify or adapt their business models to align with this movement. In a global industry like Oil & Gas, the needs of an organization the size of Pemex are many and diverse when it comes to their automation, information, control and safety needs. This presentation will look at what Pemex seeks in a relationship or partnership with a controls vendor, how automation has changed to meet their needs, and it will provide some examples of how that relationship can develop over time to the mutual benefit of end user and supplier.
