Safety Management
When employees are your most important resource, their health and safety matters most. Our senior executives provide strong support and leadership for safety programs with managers and employees actively involved in program development, hazard assessments, communications, inspections, training and incident investigations.
Our company safety management system meets the BSI Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001 guidelines. We apply consistent requirements around the globe and expect our sites to comply with local regulations and company requirements. View our Safety policy and OHSAS certifications.
We have a comprehensive internal audit program and we report results to leadership quarterly as part of the company’s Global Compliance Metrics Dashboard. We track three metrics on a 12-month rolling average to monitor and report our safety performance. The Recordable Case Rate per 100 employees is the metric that best allows us to compare our record against industry averages. This metric monitors any work-related injury or illness that requires more than minor first aid, such as prescription medicine, stitches or physical therapy. The Lost Work Day Case Rate per 100 Employees tracks cases in which employees missed a full day of work after the initial day of the incident. The third metric we monitor is the Lost Work Day Rate per 100 Employees. With this statistic, we track the actual number of days employees are away from work. This also indicates the severity of work-related illnesses and injuries. Our internal safety metrics performance is provided in the Corporate Responsibility Report.
