Environmental Management
Like our customers, Rockwell Automation is determined to minimize environmental impacts. Our global footprint has changed as we’ve evolved from a U.S.-based hardware business to a global technology company. As such, we’ve become more of a “light manufacturer” and that’s a positive for the environment.
We relentlessly strive to be an environmental management leader. Our facilities were among the first ISO 14001 certified, the international standard for environmental management. View our Environmental policy and ISO certifications. We are constantly looking for ways to reduce energy use, generate less waste and divert our waste stream from landfills. To measure our environmental performance and to provide a consistent benchmark to compare yearly trends, we normalize our metrics to total sales. The annual summary information is provided in our Corporate Responsibility Report.
We set annual performance goals and have a comprehensive internal audit program. Rockwell Automation works incessantly to act responsibly through the life cycle of each of our facilities. Like many other industries, we have legacy sites that may have operated to the legal standards and industry principles of the time, but do not meet today’s expectations or regulations. Our environmental management experts partner with government and community agencies to bring these historic sites to full compliance and closure.
Besides company environmental programs, many of our plants and employees participate in community environmental and beautification activities. We are active in civic organizations that promote environmental stewardship, have been honored for our environmental efforts, and lead and support many environmental education programs.
