Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)

People's Republic of China

On March 1, 2007, the "Measures for the Administration of the Control of Pollution by Electronic Information Products" (China RoHS) went into effect.

China's law is being implemented in two phases, with the first phase imposing only labeling and disclosure requirements effective March 1, 2007. Products within the scope must be appropriately labeled and written disclosure must be made of components within electronic information products (EIP) that contain any of six hazardous substances.

The second phase actually restricts the substances and an effective date has yet to be determined. A catalog, yet to be developed, will define which products must comply with hazardous substance restrictions and will be subject to testing and certification requirements.
